Paid/unpaid leave

The Ordinance No. 33 of the Rector of the Jagiellonian University of April 1, 2020

  1. The Rector of the JU or the respective Vice-Rector of the JU may grant an academic teacher a paid leave in order to:
  • study abroad, participate in a course or training, including Training Erasmus + program;
  • complete a research or teaching internship abroad, including the programs of the National Agency for Academic Exchange;
  • participate in a conference abroad;
  • participate in joint research conducted with a foreign entity on the basis of a scientific cooperation agreement.
  1. An academic teacher who has obtained permission to go abroad for the purposes specified in paragraph 1, receives paid leave granted for a period of up to 60 calendar days in a single calendar year.
  2. In the event of limit indicated in paragraph 2 being exceeded, taking or continuing an international trip carried out for the purposes listed in paragraph 1 is possible as part of the unpaid leave, obtained by the academic teacher within the meaning of Art. 174 of the Labor Code, subject to paragraph 4. Departure during unpaid leave may not be carried out as an international trip on behalf of the Jagiellonian University.
  3. Under particularly justified circumstances, at the written request of the academic teacher concerned, positively endorsed by the Head of JU unit, the Rector of the JU or the respective Vice-Rector of the JU may grant him/her a paid leave for a period exceeding the limit indicated in paragraph 2, once for up to 12 months. After obtaining the leave approval, the academic teacher submits a mobility application form.
  4. Within 10 days after the end of the leave granted on the basis of paragraph 4, an academic teacher is obliged to present to the head of the JU unit a report reflected the course and results of the tasks performed during the leave granted. The report acceptance is a condition for obtaining approval for the next paid leave.
  5. The settlement of an international trip carried out within a framework of the paid leave granted for a period exceeding 60 days, takes place after the submission of the report indicated in paragraph 5, approved by the Head of the JU unit to the JU IRO.
  6. At the written request of an academic teacher, the Rector of the JU or the respective Vice-Rector of the JU may consent to the carrying out research duties (including work on projects) during the paid leave exceeding 14 calendar days, as long as it does not disturb the purposefulness of the leave granted.
  7. Under justified circumstances and when financial resources available, an academic teacher departing within a framework of the paid leave may obtain the reimbursement of travel cost or per diem/limp sum according to Regulation of the Minister of Labour and Social Policy of January 29, 2013. Each time the decision to grant aforementioned financial resources is made by the direct superior or the funds administrator.
